Growing Up

My children are growing up. Such a bittersweet thing for them to do. Just the other day, Holly was wearing an outfit and Hannah commented that it was cute. My almost nine year old responded with, “I don’t do cute anymore.” Then last night, Gabriel was making fajitas for dinner last night. He asked me where the peppers were and I said, “I didn’t buy any because I didn’t think you liked them.”

“It’s fajitas, mom. Peppers go in fajitas.”

“Yes, but since when did you like anything that resembled a vegetable?”

Yes, they are growing up and I will treasure these moments. Moments that hold cherished memories of something cute or funny or signs of their growing up.

"I don't do cute anymore"?! That is too cute! Oh, wait, she doesn't do cute! Precious, then, that comment is precious.

I can relate only too well to the changing in tastes. I can't keep track of what my kids like this week that they wouldn't eat last week. But I'm doing my best to cherish the moments, in spite of the hard times. Thanks for sharing.

Oh yes, it is so bittersweet - while you love the ability to have more adult conversations, and self-sufficiency - and at the same time you hate it that they need you less.
Although, as bittersweet as it is, when I heard that Travis' cousin who is my age was expecting, I was glad it was her and not me! I love babies - but that phase of my life is definitely over - unless the Lord has a little practical joke He is holding on on me!
Oh yeah - and mom, if Gabriel is going to keep growing at the rate it appears he is, vegetables are going to have to be involved!

They grow up so fast! One of the good things about having a teenager and a 2 year old is that by the time my little one is no longer a little one, my oldest one will be close to the age to give me grandchildren!
I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's day. I've chosen you as one of my blogger friend school friends for this week's assignment. I just wanted to let you know that you and your family are covered in prayer!

God bless,
Tammy

Treasure them in your heart and please write them down to share with others. You think that you will never forget these things but over time, believe me you do. I expect you to write a book of these things plus your poems, etc one of these days.

Why do kids go and do that? Mine is obstinately getting older every day. I can't believe she is eight already. She can't wait until she turns nine (long way off) and I want it all to slow down.
