Math Rhymes

This afternoon, Holly and I were working on multiplication facts. She knows the 1-3 tables and we are working on the 4-6’s. I made up a rhyme to help her with one and she loved the idea and wanted me to make up rhymes for all of the ones we were working on. It was fun and I will probably work on some for the rest. Here’s what I came up with on the spur of the moment. Has anyone else done something similar? Share your ideas!

6x4 we’ve done before 6x4 is 24

6x5 is not a birdie, 6x5 is the number 30

6x6, just pick up sticks, 6x6 is 36

6x7 you know it’s true, 6x7 is 42

6x8 is really great, 6x8 is 48

6x9 is not a chore, 6x9 is 54

Don’t forget about the Homeschool Blog Awards. I have been browsing some of the nominees and I am humbled to be named among them. Not too humble to ask for your vote however! Thanks!

Very cute. We've been watching the "Schoolhouse Rock" multiplication video by Scholastic. They have a lot of cute songs and rhymes to help the kids remember their multiplication tables.

Cute idea- I have seen (heard?) math songs on cd's, but getting kids to make up their own rhymes is even better.

Oh these are great! We are just starting our times tables and are all the way through the 3's so far so I will copy these down.

I love this thank you. We are just beginning to learn our facts. My dd9 has a hard time remember things anyway. This will be great for her. She loves songs.

Ps added you to my google reader. Love the blog!
