Should a child whose nickname is “Crash” be allowed to ride a bicycle? Is a crash helmet enough or should we invest in full body armor? Holly learned to ride her bike on Friday and has eagerly asked to go riding every day. On Saturday, we ventured all the way across the street to a tiny cul-de-sac. Our goal was for her to stay on the bike and actually steer. She did fairly well. Yesterday we dared to go beyond the first cul-de-sac to the street behind my parents’ house. On the first time around, she smacked into a mailbox. The mailboxes in this neighborhood are encased in solid brick columns. The second time around, she fell off the bike in our neighbor’s driveway. Amazingly, there was no blood. Thankfully, her courage was undaunted and she was ready for a third and highly successful trip. John took her out this afternoon and he realized, after yet another crash, her problem is that she doesn’t know how to brake. I went out with her after dinner and we practiced braking. She is improving but I am still considering body armor.
John spent the first weekend in May in southern Florida. He stayed with his parents for a day and then traveled further south to speak at a church that is seeking a pastor. John thought that the city was great and the tiny church has potential for growth. But it appears that the retiring pastor’s views are drastically different from ours and it looks doubtful that we will be called there. It was a first step and an invaluable learning experience for John. Meanwhile, we are still here. Still searching, still praying, still trusting that God will lead the way.

Go Holly, er "Crash"!
Continuing to pray for you - God has just the place in mind. Waiting with you.
I was just out blog hopping and thought I would say hi!
My prayer is that the right place for your family would open up at the right time. May guide you to the place that you will be a blessing to the people and they be a blessing to you as well.
A few years ago now we went through a similar time. The church we were at was handed over to another denomination (very Loooong story) and we were left jobless. We traveled the country 'preaching with a view' but nothing came of it. We had applied to work at the bible college, but were told we had wrong information and there was no vacancy at that time. Then a year later (after many more church visits) we got a sudden phone call from the college saying that the position we had applied for had just become vacant and did we want it?!?!?! (did we ever!!) From there it all happened VERY quickly! All that to say that God put us in a holding pattern, much like a plane waiting to land, because He had a place for us to be and it just wasn't ready yet! Had we gotten another position, we wouldn't have been available when the place at the college came up. I know I'm preaching to the converted, but sometimes it is just nice to hear someone else's story and be reminded of how God works in our lives! Praying for you as you wait in you 'holding pattern'!
Holly's fun sounds painful. Glad no bloodshed. Sorry to hear the FL church might not work out. I'm sure God has something better in store - beyond your wildest dreams.
((Hugs)) & Prayers
You're right where you need to be! I am continuing to pray!
Praying for you. I wish our little church was looking for another pastor. We need one, but don't think it can support one finacially. I love our little church.
My youngest princess has been enjoying reading your sons blog. She liked the music thing they had on there and was impressed that he was working at Chik Fil A.
If you're ever in Central Fl.. we'll have to meet.
...."body armor"... lol!
Gee, I'm glad Holly bounces! Poor kid. I had the same problem when I learned to ride again... last summer. LOL
Still holding you guys up in prayer for the perfect situation at the perfect time. Just "so-so" won't do - don't want to waste time on aimless detours!

Something that helped my kids - they learned to ride in the street (not a busy one) RIGHT next to the curb. If they felt they were starting to fall, they just put one foot down onto the curb.
We're praying that the Lord reveals His plans for you soon!

May the Lord guide you where you need to be. We went though the same thing, seeing if the Lord wanted us in NC and we're here. Even though we're settled, where we are staying now was not the original plan, but we are patiently waiting to see what'll happen....ufortunately patience isn't my strong point-LOL! I'll keep you in my prayers.
As for Crash aka Holly, we share the same nickname, except I had it up until the age of 15, hopefully she won't carry it with her that long. Tell her to keep up the good work...of NOT crashing of course.
God Bless,
Amer
PS~ Let your mom know I'm still thinking of having her do the pitcher for my mom.
I have a Crash, too. And he did! He sneaked away while Dad had his back turned and went for a joyride down a really big hill. Needless-to-say, after several stitches and a whole-lotta ice cream, he's more careful now. ;-)

Alice
