Bicycling and Bandages
Learning to ride a bike in Romania was not an easy thing. Our yard was bumpy and short, the streets were bumpy, holey and dangerous. The park wasn’t much of an improvement. Kids did learn to ride bikes, scooters and roller blades there in spite of the difficulties. Even Holly started to get the hang of it. But because we wouldn’t let her ride on the street, she didn’t get to practice much and still had some learning to do. This afternoon, John and I worked with her. I mainly took pictures and stood at the end of the driveway. She was fearful of not being able to stop and going out into the street so I was there to catch her! After she built her confidence up, John stood in the street, watching for cars and had her to ride a short distance. She forgot to steer and hit the curb, practically doing a wheelie! She now has a scrape on her calf from the bicycle pedal, but no blood and her confidence was not hindered. She’s excited about going riding with me tomorrow!
Just in case we have more spills, I am really hoping to win the latest contest going on over at 5 Minutes for Mom. It’s a year’s supply of free Nexcare Bandages.

Congrats to your daughter! Hope your bike outting today was fun. I'm gonna be learning to ride all over again this fall... you want to stand at the end of my driveway? Gotta warn ya, it's all down hill!
Hope you have a fun and peaceful Sunday.

Hey Karen! Always glad to get to catch up a bit with your wonder-full, creative family! Hope the bike ride was a fun adventure. :) Gabe's school idea sounds like a good strategy. Hope your reading plan goes well -- enjoy. Have fun!
