Beginning to Think About the Fall

Our local homeschool co-op had a used book sale Tuesday evening. I rushed through dinner and headed out the door with cash in hand, not having a clue what I was looking for. We are not done with this school year and I had hardly given thought to the fall. I figured that we will probably do American History and American Literature as two of our high school subjects. I found the book Whatever Happened to Penny Candy? by Richard J. Maybury and decided that we will also do a semester on Economics. I bought some books on Ancient Egypt and will either do a unit with Holly on that subject or use some of them with Gabe and Hannah as supplemental materials when we do World History. I bought two videos to go along with the Geography we are doing this summer. They had an amazing price of 50 cents each so I couldn’t pass them up. One wasn’t even opened! Here is a picture of my acquisitions:

One sweet lady threw in the ACT book for free. Now, I just have to find a place to put them! Have you made your plans for the coming school year?

It's always good to plan ahead. You must be a pro at this. Did you homeschool your children in Romania? I've enjoyed reading your different blogs. I've had the pleasure of homeschooling all seven of my children. It hasn't always been easy, but homeschooling has really been a tremendous blessing for my family. Have a great summer. I look forward to reading more about your homeschool experience.

Wow. Looks like you hit the jackpot. I've got most of our stuff for next year so far. Just need to organize myself a little more.

I'm enjoying my new blog. I hate to leave homeschoolblogger, but I keep having issues with it. I'm going to try and keep both, but we'll see.

Have a great weekend.

I am so jelous! I love used book sales and I get even more excited when there is some I can use with my curriculum! I have actually been going over lesson plans this week for August and putting together a blog just for our school. I know that it's the Lord having me homeschool because I get excited about the next year a week after we are done for the summer.
We are also studying Egypt next year, along with Mesopotamia and Rome. Basically Eden through the fall of Rome. Our Science Museum is having an exibit on Pompeii that we are real excited about too.
Blessings to you all!

I am set mostly ready for next year except for a few tidbits. Going to the homeschool conference last weekend made a big difference in having my materials early and being more prepared! I bet you spent less money though! ( I did have a school allowance, so it wasn't painful!) Good finds!

Nope. I decided not to decide on next year until I could read a couple of books that I want to read first. They are Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach and Charlotte Mason Vol. 6. I at least want to do the HOWTA one first for sure.

You did get some good finds. Isn't it fun?!

I'm glad you found some answers for your future. It is so hard to be in limbo, isn't it?

Carol
