· What was the best book you read this spring? Hmmm. . . well that’s hard to say. When I made my list, we had only been in the states for one week. I did not have any clue what the next few months would hold. I did not get in as much reading as I would have liked to do. The reading that I did do was rather sporadic and when I would pick up a book, I really wasn’t sure what all had taken place in the previous chapters. So, although I enjoyed the books on my fiction list, there wasn’t anything that was inspirational, a tear jerker or memorable. From my non-fiction list I would say the best was the most helpful – Finding Your Path by Mitch Raymer. And who can choose from the books of the Bible that I listed? The ones I listed are already among my faves.

· What book could you have done without? The Unfolding of Language by Guy Deustcher I wouldn’t say that I could do without this book. I could have just left it off the list for now. I started this but just didn’t get past the first chapter. When I was in the mood to read, I wanted something lighter. I would like to read it someday in the future. Unfortunately, it belongs to my sister-in-law and I need to return it before we move.

  • Did you try out a new author this spring? If so, which one, and will you be reading that author again? Mitch Raymer Yes, if he writes another book!
  • If there were books you didn't finish, tell us why. Did you run out of time? Realize those books weren't worth it? I am not sure if it was a complete lack of time or too much blogging!
  • What was the best part of the Spring Reading Thing? Challenging myself to read even when life gets busy.
  • Would you be interested in participating in another reading challenge this fall? I’ll be there!
  • Any other thoughts, impressions, or comments. We just returned from a 1300 mile road trip without the kids. I brought two books thinking I would have tons of time to read in the van. On the way up, I actually slept half way. That is NOT the norm for me. On the way back, John and I had so much planning to do and we also listened to Frank Peretti that we down loaded onto an MP3 player. You can find the link here. It was awesome and is now on the “must listen to” list for my kids. Anyway, I think I read two chapters while we were gone.

That was interesting. I don't have any type of a schedule or anything, just a personal goal. I try and read a new book a month. Last year I read 15 books over the course of the year. I have read so far this year:

Silence of the North
The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt
Coyote Waits
The Yosemite Murders

I am currently in the middle of a big book on Yosemite called
"Off The Wall, Death In Yosemite"

We have some more travelling coming up which means I'll have some reading opportunities. I have 3 more biographical books waiting. The follow up on Roosevelt called,
"Theodore Rex" is on the list along with a biography on Scott Joplin and Rachael Scdoris (she is a blind Iditarod Sled Dog Racer). I love to read, I always have even as a child. I have a few more books of interest to get from the library when I finish these 3.

This is additional reading not counting the Bible.

I'm impressed by the reading you got done, especially since you had just returned to the States and the transition (and hard work moving!) that must have been. And I've had trips like the one you just had -- where I bring along several books and barely read a thing! :) Thanks for joining the challenge. Looking forward to seeing you for the fall challenge, too!

I read and reviewed Mitch's book too, and I love Dee Henderson.

I usually read a lot when we're traveling, too, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. :)

Great job on the reading challenge. I love, love Praying God's Word and read it often. I really am enjoying Beth Moore's devotional book called Praying God's Word Day by Day.
