Good News and Bad News

Which do you want to hear first? I’ll start with the bad and get it over with. Yesterday was a full day with church, unpacking of a few boxes, swimming, meals and finally relaxing while watching a movie. Not long into the movie, I absent-mindedly reached for my engagement ring, which I always wear, and realized with horror that the diamond was missing. We searched as best as we could in the poorly lit, overly cluttered apartment. It is gone. I could have lost it anywhere. I am just sick about it. I haven’t totally given up hope. I have offered my kids a reward and I am hoping that my son’s and my husband’s dyslexic eyes will spot it. (They see things with amazing detail!) I realize that even though it is a precious stone, it’s just that; a stone. The Bible tells us not to lay up treasure here on earth and that nothing lasts forever except for the Word of God and souls of men. So although my heart is sad, I will not grieve over this.

For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. 1 Peter 1:24-25

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21

Now for the good news! My niece had a sweet baby girl yesterday. I am so excited for her. I think that it’s kind of funny that she had her on July 1st, the birthday of another niece of mine. That in itself might not be so amusing or coincidental but her first child was born on Hannah’s birthday. And for other good news – our washer and dryer is scheduled to be delivered this evening, most likely right in the middle of dinner. I need to go help clear out the laundry room.

Don't give up hope! I can't tell you how many things we've lost and then asked God to guide us to, and He did.

I knocked the diamond out of my ring last summer, found it, but have not yet had it put back in. I think I'm just too afraid I'll lose it again.

Congratulations on your new great-niece!

I'm so sorry about your diamond...I'm sure it's not the stone as much as the sentiment that it represents!
(((HUGS)))
Hope you will feel settled in soon!

Congrats on being an auntie again! I too will pray that your diamond is found. You have a good attitude about it, but I still hope you find it, even if it has no eternal value!

Oh Karen! I'm so sorry about your ring, but I will be praying that it turns up still. My Mom's diamond fell out while she was working in a giant walk in freezer once. The floor was covered in ice chips! It was the school kitchen at my Christian high school where she was working, so when she came out crying we all prayed she would find it and the maintenance man walked into the freezer and saw it right away! Even in the middle of all that ice! God is able. And congratulations on your new neice too!

I'm really sorry about your diamond. That happened to me once when my kids were little. I know exactly how you feel and your outlook on it is amazing. I don't know I would have been that way (my son found it). I will pray that you the Lord will replace it for you if you are unable to find it.

Congratulations to your niece - new babies are such a blessing. Have a nice July 4th.

I am so sorry about your ring. Don't lose hope. A dear friend of mine lost her beautiful Tanzinite ring and had given up on ever finding it. Over a year later she reached into a bag to grab something and there it was. She had searched there before, but had somehow missed it.

On another note, how's your toe? Hope you are getting things in order and beginning to feel more at home.

I lost my entire engagement ring less than a week after my husband proposed! I had put it in my pocket when I was making cookies so I wouldn't get it gooky and forgot to put it back on. Somehow it fell out of my pocket and though we searched and searched, we couldn't find it.
A few days later, my mom's cleaning ladies found it underneath the couch. I have no idea how it got there. I never even sat on the couch that day!!!
So, have you checked under your couch? Hope you find your diamond soon!
Love,
Karen

I'm so sorry that you lost the diamond! Praying that someone will find it in the house. So sweep the house till you find it.

“Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” (Luke 15:8-10)
I found this page on Google http://www.abideinchrist.com/spurgeon/spurgeon-lostsilverpiece.html

Have a great Independence Day Celebration - July 4, 2007. Then see what happens on July 7, 2007. 7-7-7 It's bound to be a special day! Perhaps that is the day you will find the diamond!
God Bless you and yours.
Love,
Dad

I am so sorry for the loss of your diamond. I will be praying you find it. I can totally understand. One month after my wedding I had the same experience. We had gone to visit my grandparent's for Thanksgiving, so it was never found, but I know a big God who can help.
