The High Cost of Moving - Thursday Thirteen Edtion #43
Thanks to Karen at Write from Karen for the banner
I cannot believe it has been an entire month since I have done a Thursday Thirteen. June was an extremely busy and eventful month. If you don’t know what’s been going on, you can read some of my recent entries. You can gather from my TT that we have moved from Romania, temporarily to Alabama and now to Virginia. The cost has been high. Here are a few things that we have had to spend money on for this move.
- Container to ship our belongings back to the US
- Plane tickets for trip back to the US
- Storage building to hold all of them until we find a place to live
- Survey trip to search for employment and residence
- New to us vehicle
- Moving van rental from AL to VA
- Bottled water for loading the van in the Alabama summer heat
- Van fuel for a 650 mile trip
- Fuel for the car that followed the van
- Vehicle inspection and registration
- Driver’s licenses
- Apartment deposit
- Eating out when cooking wasn’t possible

WOW! Do you have any money left????
Wow! I hated our big moves to and from Germany~ But it was nothing compared to yours! Thanks for stopping by mine and entering my contest!
You're telling me - try a 1500 mile move - and then a 60 mile move four months later. I am so happy that is over for us - and so happy that you are well on your way to getting settled.
Has Mr. Woodward started working yet? Or should I say Trooper or Sgt. or what?
Wow, I hate moving and I've never had to do a move as big as yours.
Happy TT and thanks for visiting my list. :-)
Good grief, and I thought our move was a major undertaking! I can only imagine what yours has been like!
Thanks for visiting my TT today.
Oh my goodness, I know just how expensive it is to get a vehicle registered in VA! I hope someone warned you, lol. MN is bad enough, but I am so glad we aren't in Virginia anymore, that was killer!
Moving is expensive...probably my main reason for not desiring to move.
Moving is horribly expensive, isn't it?!!! We only moved across town two years ago and it took us all summer to save-up. Another move may be in our future...I'd better start saving now!
Blessings,
Michelle W.
wooooah!!! This sounds VERY expensive! no doubt busy and expensive!
You better go and buy a lotto ticket to make up with the expenses...lol
I forget how painful moving can be. It just eats your money away.
What a list! You know the most daunting item on it? The Drivers Licenses; standing in line at the DMV and THEN trying to get anything done with those people! Ugh! Thanks for stopping by today. Get some rest and enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I really like yours - LOVE the template! I understand the cost of moving. We moved from NC to FL the week after Hurricane Katrina and during our drive (over 2 days) the gas prices went from $1.30ish to over $3.00!!! That was an unexpected cost. Good luck on your move and praying God's direction for you. I admire missionaries!!
Blessings,
Adena

I remember when my friends moved to and from Norway. What an expensive nightmare. They're very glad to be back.
Did you have a blog at Homeschool Blogger? Your face and name are very familiar. I was/am SlackerMom there.
Great post...moving can be an adventure but every adventure has a cost, eh? Enjoy your new place.
God bless your new home with lots of good memories.
Yikes- lots of expenses! Hope you are feeling more settled.
And you are right...that is only 13. Moving is very expensive! (((((Hugs))))). I didn't post a "Thursday Thirteen", but I did give you a little award that you can read about here. Love, Patricia
It's such a big change and so many little (and big!) details! Hope you're getting settled in.
Thanks for visiting my T13!
Hope you are settling in and that you will love where you are.
Man, girl. You sure have me beat.
