Injury!
Last night we went to church. We were only about ten minutes early but there were only two other people there and no one to unlock the door. We got out of the car and I was going to put my keys away when Holly started screaming. She had slammed the car door on her finger. The door was locked. So I had to open my door and then reach in to unlock hers. Having a finger smashed is painful enough but then to have to wait for someone open the door is harrowing.Holly has always been a bit clumsy. Bumps and falls don't bother her much and she usually responds with, "I'm OK!" Finger injuries, however, are particularly horrific for her.
When she was a tiny baby, only nine months old, her finger tip of her pinky was severed. (That's a story for another day. It happened in Romania when her tiny finger was caught in a cabinet door.) Praise the Lord that this time, it's not nearly so bad. Her screams were heard by everyone nearby and one sweet lady ran to a nearby house for some ice. The bruised finger should heal soon. Probably sooner than my heart.

I am so sorry Holly mashed her finger. I know how traumatic that kind of accident (involving her hands, especilly her fingers) is for her. The finger looks better than I was expecting. Looks like she will be able to write without much difficulty.
Ouch- praying that her finger and her mommy's heart both recover quickly!
Ouch!!!
Joining with Halfmoon Girl in praying for Holly's finger and your heart. Though Holly has the bruise, I imagine it hurt you more to watch her hurting while you moved as quickly as you could to release her finger...
Oh - poor girl. It is awful for the injured and for Mom too, hope her finger heals quickly.
so sorry that happened. I know it hurt. Praying that it soon heals and all will be ok.
Awww...hope you are BOTH feeling better soon. Ouch!
Oh my - I have heard of other people doing that - it seems a special talent. Poor baby. I hope she feels better soon.
I went to the door once when Travis was shutting it in his normal Bam-Bam not realizing his own strength way - and it got my finger. I had the center of it drilled slowly and it released the blood and looked normal and felt normal again. That might help.
Give her hugs for us.
Ouch! Yes, the good ol' "get your finger slammed in the door" trama. It seems like it's a rite of passage to growing up. Hope it's healing up okay. I have enjoyed reading about Holly's back-to-school adventure. Please keep us informed on how this goes. Sounds like she adjusts well to new situations, which is good.
That hurts so bad. Hope it feels better soon Holly. Do you have some dark nail polish?
Ouch! Poor thing.
