Goodbye to Braces
The kids and I departed before it was even bright and early yesterday morning for a long, long trip to Alabama. The primary purpose for our wearisome journey was an orthodontist appointment for Gabe to get his braces off. The secondary reason was to visit family for Christmas. My sinus cold has lingered and driving for nearly 13 hours was torture. My throat was a bit scratchy and I decided that an icee would be the perfect treat. Unfortunately for me, every gas station I stopped at either did not have them or had strange flavors like blue raspberry or cherry. I only like cola.
After Gabe's lengthy appointment, I took Hannah to the mall and headed straight to the store that sells icees. Even though we weren't traveling, I still felt the need. They even had cola. Well, that icee was mainly fluff and no liquid. How hard is it to get a decent drink? I asked them to put a bit of coke in it and then it was great. Sweet relief to my scratchy throat. It's not a sore throat but one that is on the verge of layringitis.
Gabe's appointment went great! The braces are off and the 4 years of torture are over. His teeth look great. I'd post a picture if I knew how. (I'm on my mom's computer.) They took x-rays and the bad news of the day is that he needs to have his wisdom teeth removed. The bottom ones are practically perpendicular. Well, at least we can get that done in Virginia.

That's great he has those out. I know there's such freedom in it.
Pictures please!
We passed the Chik-fil-a tonight in the nearest big town and thought of Gabe when we saw a sign that said Santacow would be there Sunday for pictures with kiddies.
:)
Congratulations on the braces off!! I remember getting mine off and what a relief. I was so happy to eat carmels again. lol
Sorry you arent feeling well. I am picking something up as well. I think that its the business of the season. We wear ourselves down. I seem to get something every year at this time.
God Bless
Have a happy holiday

I bet he is so happy to have his braces off! Glad you are back in Alabama even for a little while. I really hope that one of these times we can meet up. At least it will be cold for Christmas this year! YAY!
Rejoicing with Gabe. Sure hope your throat is okay for your program on Saturday. I felt like something was trying to settle in my throat last night, but seems to be better today. 'Tis the season, huh? :-)

I love cola ices too!
Congrats of the braces off - we've never had to do that - yet. Also, congrats on finishing up your long-term sub. job. Just hearing about your experiences brings thankfulness for what we have and yet wrenches the heart for those you minister to in the classroom. Wishing you a restful and special Christmas this year!
Blessings, PlainJane
Hope you're feeling better. 'Tis the season for colds, I guess!
Just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas, a little early! Have a wonderful time with your family.

If you get back before all the lights are down, check out the tacky tour list from the paper...there's a house not to far from us that synchronized their lights to music. You tune in to an FM station and watch the lights go...it's beautiful!
