A Contest I Need to Win!!

JenIg is having a fantastic contest that I would love to, need to win. I've won two things recently. Maybe I am on a roll. . .

Rosetta Stone has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a while -- next week they are unleashing a brand new curriculum, and y
ou can WIN the *all new* Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3… FOR FREE!

This is a $219 program (and believe me it's worth every penny!) and the winner gets to pick from any of these 14 languages: Spanish (Spain or Latin America), English (American or British), Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Irish, Hebrew, or Russian.

This will also include a headset with microphone, and students will participate in lifelike conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program. Rosetta Stone still incorporates listening, reading and writing as well, in addition to speaking. Many homeschoolers requested grammar and vocabulary exercises, and with Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3, they're included! For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program and allow parents to easily enroll students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, and view and print reports.

To win this most excellent program -- in the language of your choice -- copy these (blue) paragraphs and post it in (or as) your next blog post -- then to enter the contest, go to the original contest page HERE: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/JenIG/501132/ and leave a comment with the link showing where you blogged about it. And please make sure the link works to get back to the original contest page when you post it. And good luck! The winner will be picked randomly on March 26, and will be notified thru the link they left to their blog pg. And if you have more than one blog, you can post them and enter those separately for more chances to win. Yay for free stuff!

End of Summer Blog-Abration

Tasra_dawson_blogabration

I am all about being frugal and finding great deals. The best deal I know of is winning things for free. I don't usually win things when it's just the luck of the draw but every once in a while I do and it's fun to keep trying. I am a bit late joining in on the End of Summer Blog-Abration at Lessons from the Scrapbook Page but there's still time! Sign up today and you could win one of the great prizes and make some new friends in the process.

And it's easy:
  1. Add the Announcement Button to your sidebar and link it to here
  2. Write a post inviting all your friends
  3. Sign the Mr. Linky box with your blog site to register to win a prize.

Dog Days of Summer Bloggy Giveaway #2

Update: This giveaway is now closed. I will announce the winner soon!

Another busy day is just about over. The kids and I have been involved in Vacation Bible School this week at the church we've been attending. Holly is one of the class members and Gabriel, Hannah and I have been helping out with whatever they needed. Last night we were the special speakers, going from class to class talking about being missionaries to Romania. That was fun.

Here is my next giveaway in the Dog Days of Summer Giveaway that's going on over at Rocks in My Dryer:

You have got to check it out! Everyone, bloggers and non-bloggers alike, are welcome to "put their name in the hat" for literally hundreds of great prizes. You don't have to be giving anything away to participate. These are some scrapbooking stickers that I either have duplicates of or probably won't use in the next year or so. (I am seriously behind in scrapbooking!) If you would like to win this set of stickers, here are the rules:

  1. Just leave a comment! You can tell me how often you scrapbook if you'd like. That would make it more fun but it's not a requirement.
  2. This giveaway is open to bloggers and non-bloggers. Just make sure I can contact you via your blog or email.
  3. This contest is open to everyone in the US and Canada.
  4. I will randomly draw a name Friday night after 9 PM eastern time.
While you are here, check out my Giveaway #1!

Dog Days of Summer Bloggy Giveaway #1

Update: This giveaway is now closed. I will announce the winner soon!

I just stopped by Shannon's blog - Rocks in My Dryer - and there are nearly 400 bloggers giving something away! There are tons of fantastic prizes. I am a bit late joining in on the action. I could blame my busy life, but I am always busy. Basically, I just couldn't decide what I wanted to give away. So, I am going to do two things. Here's the first:

This is a gently read book by Lori Copeland entitled Child of Grace. It has my name stamped on the inside but otherwise is like new. I have read it once and have a sizable stack of books on my "to read" list, that I don't think I'll get to this one again any time soon. Here are the rules for my giveaway:

  1. Just leave a comment! You can tell me your favorite book or author if you'd like but it's not required.
  2. This giveaway is open to bloggers and non-bloggers. Just make sure I can contact you via your blog or email.
  3. This contest is open to everyone in the US and Canada.
  4. I will randomly draw a name Friday night after 9 PM eastern time.

Weekend Wrap Up

Another week has gone by. We have been here for nearly 4 weeks. A month’s worth of unpacking and organizing, settling in and making this new place feel like home. I spent a little time on Saturday putting some pictures back into their frames. The frames were shipped on the container and the pictures flew with us on the airplane. It just felt safer to have them with us. Most of them sat on our piano, which we don’t have here so I’ll have to find a new location for them. Others will find an empty spot on the wall.

On Saturday afternoon, I was able to go to a resource fair at a homeschool convention. I would have liked to attend the sessions too but it was $65 for one person and we just couldn’t afford that now. But the resource fair was free and I walked out spending a total of 75 cents. I found two books at the used book sale and some neat resources from the Federal Reserve Bank for FREE! Those will fit in with the economics course that Gabe and Hannah will be doing this fall. Check them out online. ALL of their resources are free.

Later this week, hopefully, I will post some more exciting entries. Some of them just might be:

Dog Days of Summer Bloggy Giveaway

The dog days of summer are certainly here and it has been hot here in Virginia - high 90's and humid. I can't believe that there are just a few days left in July. It always seems that after the 4th, Christmas comes up in no time. I'll be glad for cooler weather but otherwise, I am looking forward to these last few weeks of summer. I have a few more things to do in our bedroom but otherwise I feel settled. If you have followed my story the last few months, you know what a relief that is for all of us. Gabriel got a job at Chick-fil-A and today he went in for training. He's excited about that.

To add some more excitement to the summer, Rocks in My Dryer is hosting a Bloggy Giveaway. I don't have a clue what I'll do but I thought it would be fun. To find out the details, click the button below. It begins this Monday. I hope to see you there! Come back on Monday to see what I am giving away.

Luck

Do you believe in luck? I don’t. But when it comes to contests where the winner is chosen by sheer “luck of the draw”, I feel like singing that old Hee Haw song, “If it weren’t fer bad luck I’d have no luck at all.” I almost never win and sometimes I wonder why I bother. My son however seems quite the opposite. He’s won several drawings and he’s only 16. One day, he found a twenty dollar bill on the street in front of our house. I don’t think I’ve ever found anything more than a penny. He promptly offered half of it to Hannah. The next week, he won a drawing at the mall for a $50 gift certificate! I believe that it’s more than luck. I believe that God has blessed his generous heart. Last week, he entered Nan’s Apronpalooza contest over at Life is Like a Lunchbox and he won this apron from Momo’s retro fashions for me! I can’t wait until it arrives!

Apron Contest

Here's a contest that I have entered and I thought I'd share it with you. It's for a free apron and all you have to do is go to Life is Like a Lunchbox and tell her which one is your favorite. I never knew there were so many cute aprons. My newest one is about 15 years old. I think it's time for something new. Click on over! She's doing 3 separate contests each day this week!!

Bicycling and Bandages

Learning to ride a bike in Romania was not an easy thing. Our yard was bumpy and short, the streets were bumpy, holey and dangerous. The park wasn’t much of an improvement. Kids did learn to ride bikes, scooters and roller blades there in spite of the difficulties. Even Holly started to get the hang of it. But because we wouldn’t let her ride on the street, she didn’t get to practice much and still had some learning to do. This afternoon, John and I worked with her. I mainly took pictures and stood at the end of the driveway. She was fearful of not being able to stop and going out into the street so I was there to catch her! After she built her confidence up, John stood in the street, watching for cars and had her to ride a short distance. She forgot to steer and hit the curb, practically doing a wheelie! She now has a scrape on her calf from the bicycle pedal, but no blood and her confidence was not hindered. She’s excited about going riding with me tomorrow!

Just in case we have more spills, I am really hoping to win the latest contest going on over at 5 Minutes for Mom. It’s a year’s supply of free Nexcare Bandages.

Almost Speechless

We are having a great time here in South Carolina. The weather is wonderful except for the yellow dusting of pollen. We have that in Alabama too. I do not know if it's the pollen or just the fact that I have a bit of a cold but I practically have laryngitis. We are having fun fellowshipping with great friends, sharing ideas and listening to ideas and advice. Tonight we are going out for some Mexican food. No complaints from me! We will probably leave tomorrow right after church.

Don't forget about the Quirky Quote Qontest which ends tonight at midnight central time and the Homeschool Blog Award nominations which ends on April 6th.
