Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY August 11, 2008...

Hosted by Peggy @ The Simple Woman

Outside My Window... The sun is shining and it is only supposed to be around 80. Maybe fall is coming soon!

I am thinking... My substitute job starts two weeks from today! I have so much to do between now and then

I am thankful for... the great homeschool group that I am a part of.

From the kitchen... Completely unknown at this moment. I need to make a weekly menu.

I am wearing... denim capris and a navy top.

I am creating... homeschool plans and a list of things that need to be done today!

I am going... back to the dentist. After the numbness and soreness wore off, I discovered the bite is not quite right. I really don't have time for this. . .

I am reading... The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck I finally finished Where the Willows Grow.

I am hoping... That I won't be long at the dentist office.

I am hearing... Music that someone is playing. The rest of the house is very quiet. The children are enjoying the summer schedule of sleeping late.

Around the house... Everyone has to clean! I have a list of things that I want done before school starts and we have company coming tonight. John's brother and family will be with us for about a day and a half.

One of my favorite things... Cereal for breakfast. I love the variety that we have here in the States.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Wednesday morning I'm going to help the regular teacher set up the classroom. Thursday I have a meeting with the ladies of my church. Saturday is a homeschool "retreat" planning day for the moms.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

The boys won a contest at VBS so Gabriel got to smash a pie (crust and whipped cream) into this poor girl's face. Gabriel didn't know that the winners got pied too.

Treated Like a Queen

This morning I had the opportunity to sit back in a reclining chair that had a built in massager. I put on my headphones, closed my eyes and listened to my MP3 player for well over two hours. Right before that, I was shot with Novocain, twice. Most of that two hours, I had to have my mouth opened wide while the dentist drilled and picked and who knows what in order to crown my poor broken tooth. With new technology, they are able to do a crown in just one visit now. The assistant put a rubber mouth prop between my teeth on the opposite side to help me keep my mouth opened. I motioned to her and she told me to take it out. I asked her if they had a smaller one because that one was making me gag. (No one can accuse me of having a big mouth. Just ask my dentist.) She told me that one was the child's size. So we made due without it. I must say thank you to Patricia for giving me the idea of bringing the MP3 player along. It helped to pass they time and keep my mind off of what they were doing. I was listening to the homeschool convention that I went to earlier this summer. One of the speakers was quite humorous. It's hard to laugh when your mouth is numb and filled with all sorts of drilling, sucking, squirting things and a pair of hands or two. Thankfully, it's all done now. I just have to wait until the Novocain wears off. I should be able to eat something by dinnertime tonight.

I am thankful for... the great homeschool group that I am a part of.

From the kitchen... It was just the girls and I tonight. Hannah made some

macaroni and cheese.

I am wearing... black capris and a new green top

I am creating... a list of goals for my children for this school year - academic,

personal and spiritual.

I am going... to bed very soon!

I am reading...Where Willows Grow by Kim Vogel Sawyer & The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck and still not getting very far.

I am hoping... That I get a lot accomplished this month. There's a lot on my calendar.

I am hearing... Holly breathing deeply. She is asleep on my bed.

Around the house... We are all involved in Vacation Bible School this week. I am teaching the 4th - 6th grade girls. John and Gabe are teaching the 4th - 6th grade boys. Hannah is helping with crafts and of course Holly is one of the students in my class.

One of my favorite things... Fall. I can't wait until we have some fall weather. I'm sure it will be several weeks away yet.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: 3 more days of VBS. A trip to the dentist on Friday to get my tooth crowned.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Numb

I am numb from my chin up to my eyes. I cannot smile and cannot eat. My stomach is growling. Later, lunch will be tomato soup - thankfully one of my favorites. Right now, I listening to the Heart of the Matter Online Homeschool Conference. It's a good day to sit back and relax. What's going on at your house?

I Am a Wimp

I am a wimp when in comes to pain and a complete coward when it comes to the dentist. My biggest fear on Monday was that I had to go to the dentist by myself. I wanted John to come with me but the only appointment that I could get was too late in the afternoon and he had to go to work. My fears were in vain, however. They only looked at the tooth and took an x-ray. I was sent me home with a prescription for an antibiotic and two future appointments. I must return tomorrow morning to have a root canal redone on the tooth. The first one was done in Romania. I don't know if the Romanian dentist did not do a good enough job or what but the dentist said that decay caused the tooth to break and he thinks that it may be abscessed. I am not looking forward to tomorrow.
